RLSMedia.com - Several residents of Immaculate Conception Senior Residence were displaced today after a small kitchen fire set off the sprinkler system, causing major water damage in the building, officials said.
At approximately 3:27 p.m., firefighters responded to 59 Westfield Avenue for a kitchen fire which caused the sprinkler system in building to activate.
Although sprinklers controlled the fire while firefighters responded to extinguish, residents of the immediate floor were removed from the area and taken to the lobby of the building.
One of three apartments suffered water and fire damage while two other apartments suffered only water damage, according to reports.
No injuries were reported as a result of the fire. A resident suffered minor injuries after resident slipped from the wet floor.
