RLSMedia.com - Elizabeth mayor, city officials, fire officials and guests broke ground on Tuesday with the upcoming construction of the new Engine 6 Firehouse.
The firehouse, which is located on Catherine Street and Jackson Avenue, was severely damaged by a fast moving fire on December 30, 2012.
A little over two years later, the station is getting its long awaited reconstruction.
The project is expected to be completed by April 2016.
The station was originally built in 1929.
